Wilfred’s thanks its customers for bringing their eco bags whenever they visit the shop. The retail store has noticed this change in the past year, noting that “it is a welcome development”. While the specialty grocery store sells some products with plastic packaging, the brand does not want to add more to the 6.3 billion metric tonnes of plastic thrown in landfills each year.
The retail brand believes that using eco bags is a “wonderful first step” in reducing the volume of single-use plastic used around the world. “It also raises awareness because it makes people rethink their previous decisions when it comes to shopping. What is amazing is, many are making these small changes now and that is exactly what we are aiming for. It all starts with the little things,” Sigrid Salucop of Salucop Group says.
